Lake Shore Tournament Rules

2010 USSSA Maryland State Championships

Rules in this "White sheet section" override USSSA.  Otherwise, any issue not covered here is governed by USSSA rules. ( http://www.usssabaseball.org/documents/BylawsRules_Jan1_2010.pdf)

Pitching Limitations – Lakeshore Baseball does not have specific pitching limitations at our tournaments. One rule that we do employ at our tournaments is as follows: Once a pitcher leaves the mound, he can not return to pitch in that game.

Rosters

Rosters must be turned in prior to your teams first game. Any protests based on age must be filed prior to the start of the game. $50 protest fee (noted below) will apply.  A player's age is determined by age on April 30th, 2010. A player may appear on ONLY one roster, at any time, within the same age division. Any player found to be participating with more than one team in an age division shall result in the second team’s disqualification, and suspension of the player. Rosters must be turned in at the Check-in station prior to your first game or entered online and cannot be altered afterwards.

NOTE: For a player eligible for different age groups refer to the USSSA rules.

Tie-breakers -

1) Winning Percentage (win loss record)
2) Head-to-head
3) Runs allowed (versus all teams played)
4) Lowest single game runs allowed
5) Run differential (maximum +/- 8 runs per game versus all teams played)
6) USSSA points (per USSSA.com)
7)Coin Flip

3-way tie:
♦ If one of the teams is 2-0 vs. the other tied teams, they will be the higher seed. Start with situation #1 above to seed the remaining two teams.
♦ If all 3 teams are 1-1 vs. each other, head-to-head is not applicable and we start with #2 from the above tie-breaker system to seed all 3 of the teams.
♦ If all 3 teams did not play each other (and no one team is 2-0 vs. the other tied teams), head-to-head is not applicable and we start with #2 from the above tie-breaker system to seed all 3 of the teams.
*An elimination game featuring teams that are the same seed from different pools will use a coin flip to determine home team.

Time Limit

For Pool Play and Quarter-Final games:

6 inning games (9u-12u): No new inning after 1 hour and 45 minutes.

7 inning games (13u-14u): No new inning after 2 hours.

For Semi-Finals:

6 inning games (9u-12u): No new inning after 1 hour and 45 minutes.

7 inning games (13u-14u): No new inning after 2 hours .

No time limit for Championship game.

All games go extra innings as long as the time limit has not been reached.

A tie (after time limit is reached) in Pool Play remains a tie in the standings.

A tie (after time limit is reached) in the Quarter-FinalSemi-Final round will play one full extra inning and then one inning of "California tie-breaker"- if still tied, reverts back to the last untied inning.  California tie-breaker: Each team places last out from previous inning on 2nd base and completes a full inning (no outs).

Hard stop time limit may be put into effect if games begin to run behind on any day.

Home/Visitor

Home team will be determined by coin flip in all Pool play games. Higher seed earns choice in elimination games.

Inclement Weather Refunds

A 50% refund will be issued if only 1 game was played. There is no refund for 2 or more games played.  In the event of a cancellation of the event, the entire tournament fee minus an $85 administration fee will be refunded to each team.

Intentional Delays

The umpires and tournament officials reserve the right to eject a player or coach for intentionally delaying a game and/or declare a forfeit against that team. Intentionally delaying a game to achieve a win through the means of a time limit will not be tolerated.

Protests

Judgment calls may not be protested. Rule interpretations must be protested immediately (before the next pitch).  Play will stop and Tournament Officials must be notified immediately. A Protest Fee of $50 (cash) must be paid at the time of the protest and will be refunded if the protest is upheld.

Official Scorebook

The home team’s scorebook shall be regarded as the official scorebook. The visiting team is encouraged to validate their scorebook against the home team frequently.
